Monday morning
Point Sublime hike
This morning, I start my weekend with a 12 km hike from the picturesque village of St-Gorges-de-Lévéjac. My first stop is at the Point Sublime panorama, where I pause for a few minutes to admire the breathtaking view and contemplate the vultures flying in the distance. Being able to observe this sublime landscape of such magnitude allows me to reflect on the grandeur of the world and my place within it.
“Discovering the world, the better to discover oneself, that’s my vision of travel.”
What is the Cirque des Baumes?
The Cirque des Baumes, located just below the Panorama du Point sublime, takes its name from the baumes (from the Occitan baumas meaning caves) carved out by wind and erosion. Here, you’ll discover cliffs that are home to hundreds of nesting birds, as well as an exceptional heritage of chapels, ruiniform rocks and“baumes“, or caves.
Monday lunchtime
Picnic overlooking the Gorges du Tarn
I take a lunch break along the cornice overlooking the Cirque des Baumes. From here, I can spot griffon vultures and soak up the wild flora andfauna of the Gorges du Tarn. After enjoying my picnic, I lie down on the grass and let myself be lulled by the gentle melody of nature. Well satisfied, I continue my hike towards the Causse du Sauveterre, discovering new landscapes and caussenard houses in the hamlets of Mas Rouch, Serres, Les Fonts and Soulages, where authenticity and serenity reign.

Monday afternoon
Relaxing on the corniche of the Gorges du Tarn
At the end of my hike in Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac, I’m proud of the route I’ve taken. I then head for my accommodation in Almières, near the village of Saint-Rome de Dolan, where I stop off at the viewpoint next to the village hall, which offers majestic views of the Gorges du Tarn. Once in Almières, I take part in the 5:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. yoga class for all, on the theme: softness & depth in a gentle yoga session.

Monday evening
Sunset at Point Sublime
After this yoga session, I feel soothed and in tune with myself!
I head back to Point Sublime to enjoy the sunset view, which changes the whole atmosphere. The magnificent spectacle that nature offers us begins, so I head for the viewpoint and admire the sun hiding behind the Causses, leaving behind a gradation of warm colors, then night falls and thousands ofstars shine in the sky, without light pollution… An unforgettable moment.

Enjoy a sunset in the breathtaking Gorges du Tarn.
Summer is synonymous with warmth, mild, lengthening days… and late sunsets. So there’s always time to enjoy the pink or orangespectacle of the last moments of daylight. The Panorama du Roc des Hourtous, located on the Causse Méjean, is the ideal place to watch the sunset.
Tuesday morning
Escapade in the Gorges du Tarn
I’m taking advantage of the cool morning to go hiking, and today I’ll be discovering the Cirque des Baumeshike. It’s a rather active 5 km hike starting from the panorama of Point Sublime, descending into the Gorges du Tarn, passing the Hermitage de Saint-Hilaire, the troglodyte village of Baumes basses, Baumes Chaudes and the Cirque des Baumes. En route!
“The real reason why I’m on the move makes sense only in itself. It’s called pleasure… I walk for pleasure, and I take the opportunity to meditate”, Yves Paccalet.
Tuesday lunchtime
Oh, vultures!
High up on the cliffs of the Gorges du Tarn, I use my binoculars to observe a family ofvultures nesting in the rock. I choose this spot to take a lunch break and enjoy the river while observing these majestic birds blending in with the other beauties of this exceptional landscape. I enjoy the peace and quiet and the trickle of the Tarn.

Which breed of vulture is most often seen at the Cirque des Baume?
The griffon vulture is the most common vulture in Lozère and the least shy, so it ‘s easy to spot it around the cliffs and rocky cirques of the Gorges du Tarn et de la Jonte. Its very short tail helps to distinguish it from thegolden eagle, which is also present in the area and enjoys shared flights. If you’re lucky, you’ll also be able to spot other types of vulture: the black vulture, the Egyptian v ulture and the bearded vulture.
Tuesday afternoon
The Maison de Tourisme et de Pays du Point sublime
I leave the pebble beach to walk along the Cirque des Baumes, situated below the famous panorama of Point Sublime… End of the steep hike, at the panorama, one last goodbye to it, after returning tothe Maison de Tourisme et de Pays, to get practical information for my next trips to this magnificent place and to buy souvenirs and local products.

Tuesday evening
Road-Trip in the Gorges du Tarn
Once all my belongings have been collected, it’s time to leave, on the advice of the Maison de Tourisme et de Pays, and I savor my last moments in the Gorges du Tarn by car, winding my way along its magnificently winding roads. I’ve heard it’s the ideal way to discover the villages and sites of the Gorges du Tarn. So I began my epic journey from the village of Les Vignes, stopping off at the Pas de Soucy panorama, continuing on to the little village of La Malène, then on to St-Chély-du-Tarn and enjoying the breathtaking scenery all the way to St-Enimie.
“We never stop exploring, and the end of all exploration will be the return to the starting point”, Thomas Stearns Eliot

“The return trip was a joyous and happy one, after an unforgettable and magical weekend in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn!”
