Arrival at the truffle festival
We arrived at the truffle festival at around 10:30 a.m., with the farmers’ market already in place since 9 a.m… So we stocked up on good local food: duck products, snails, breads, mushrooms… We also snapped up some arts and crafts: leather goods, jewelry… just what we needed, as many of us had gifts to make! Numerous local exhibitors were present for the occasion, as well as the Office de Tourisme de l’Aubrac aux Gorges du Tarn, with a wealth of tourist information…

As soon as we arrived, we were delighted by the warm and friendly atmosphere of this traditional festival. Every year, the truffle festival attracts hundreds of visitors from all over the region and beyond to “celebrate” the truffle.

Time for lunch!
Noon arrives, and we’re amazed at the wide choice of truffle dishes available on site and in the village. On site: truffle omelettes, truffle cheeses, truffle butter toast, soup, waffles, crêpes… in short, plenty to enjoy at the refreshment bar! We also had the opportunity to eat in the restaurants of La Canourgue, all of which offered a truffle menu for the occasion. In the end, we opted for a bit of both: toast with truffled butter for the aperitif, followed by a meal in a Canourgue restaurant… a real treat!

Discover the activities
Numerous truffle-related events take place throughout the day, and particularly in the afternoon: culinary demonstrations and tastings with several Lozère chefs, truffle-digging demonstrations with truffle dogs, truffle tombola… We were able to make the most of it, and we even got lucky! We won a 30-gram truffle at the tombola, so we’re going to cook it right away… This gourmet day was a superb experience, and we were able to find out more about the black diamond by talking to the Lozère truffle growers’ union. A great time with our friends, with just one regret: why didn’t we go before?
