La Sablière
An emblematic village
The hamlet of La Sablière is emblematic of the Gorges du Tarn. A former convent dating back to the 11th century, it is one of those small villages hemmed in between the left bank of the Tarn and the cliffs of the Causse Méjean, which almost fell into oblivion when the arrival of the right bank road forced its inhabitants to move to the other side of the river. A village remarkable for its history, architecture and community life, La Sablière is a survivor!
A preserved village
The Essentielle association
The hamlet of La Sablière is a survivor, and not for nothing. Lovers of this little corner of paradise have fought hard to restore its soul and beauty. Numerous events are organized here by the Essentielle association, which manages this unique place. The hamlet is only accessible by boat or from the new GR736 Gorges et Vallée du Tarn.
