All you need to knowabout the Tour de Chanac

A visit to the village of Chanac is rich in history, and its tower is the perfect symbol of this. Once the summer residence of the bishops of Mende, the château, of which the tower is a vestige, enjoyed a period of splendor in the 17th century, notably with Monseigneur de Piencourt. Enlarged and embellished, it included no less than thirty-eight apartments. Water was drawn from the Bernades stream and channeled through an ingenious system of Bourneaux (terracotta pipes).

A place not to be missed

The tower, which dominates the Lot Valley and the village, remains the emblem and pride of the village.

The Tour de Chanac is the setting for numerous cultural events during the summer, including the famous Détours du Monde festival, an annual musical and cultural experience since the early 2000s.
