Learn more about the churches and chapels of the Lot Valley in Lozère. Visit the collegiate church of Saint-Martin in La Canourgue, the ancient collegiate church that gave birth to the village, and appreciate its architecture, unique in the Gévaudan region. A few minutes away, in the shade of a charming valley where a miraculous spring flows, discover the Romanesque chapel of Saint-Frézal, where the bishop Saint-Frézal is said to have chased away the evil Druid. Don’t forget the charming Romanesque church of Saint-Médard in Banassac, which in the early Middle Ages was one of the most important Christian towns in Gévaudan. Nearby, in Canilhac, visit the church of Saint-Vincent, the former chapel of the castle that was once the stronghold of one of the most powerful baronies in Gévaudan.
