Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers

A must-see village on the Causse Méjean

Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers is a must-see village on the Causse Méjean. This wild territory is home to a wide variety of natural curiosities, including the Arcs Saint-Pierre, the Cave de l’Homme Mort, the Vases de chines and the Vases de Sèvres. At Le Truel, the Maison des Voulours welcomes many tourists every year. The highest point in the commune is the summit of Mont Buisson (1065 m), 1.5 km to the north-west of Saint-Pierre as the crow flies, where a protohistoric enclosure of Celtic origin (6th century BC) remains, the remains of an oppidum. It would have been a place of worship, and the seat of a rustic temple. The village of Saint-Pierre des Tripier developed in the Middle Ages around a Romanesque priory, of which the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre is a vestige.
